Kuka Juice was started by two best friends (Abigail Ellison and Samantha Shaw) after a backpacking trip through South America. While traveling they kept seeing locals drinking fresh, natural juice so they joined in and when they came back aimed to bring those same delicious drinks to the states.
Now, getting a juice from Kuka Juice is different than running into the grocery store and grabbing a fruit juice. Kuka Juice is cold-pressed, which preserves 3-5 times more vitamins, minerals, and enzymes than other methods. It’s a labor intensive process that requires creating pulp and then pressing all of the juice out, without using heat and minimizing oxidation. All that means you’ll be getting the most nutritiously beneficial juice, straight from fresh fruit and vegetables without unnecessary steps or ingredients.
Kuka offers some pretty delightful flavors, my personal favorite is the “Kale Yeah” because of it’s lack of ginger. I have to give you fair warning, I think Kuka’s flavors are delightful, but if you’re not used to tasting something without added sugar or aren’t accustomed to drinking some stronger flavored veggies (I’m looking at your fennel and celery) it could take some getting used to. All of their mainstay beverages offer an easy way to sneak in some fruits and veggies and ranging from $8-$12 per bottle you can snag one for a snack or to sip all day. They also offer “mylks” which are creamier almond milk like concoctions. On a hot day, try replacing your morning ice coffee with an “I love you a latte” mylk, it’s creamier, more filling, and will be a lot healthier.
I’m always looking for simple ways I can make swaps or enjoy something a little healthier for me, and adding fruit and veggie juice is about as easy as it gets. My favorite time of day to drink one of these is mid-afternoon, right when I want to reach for some candy! You can snag your own juice at TD Saturday Market or coming soon at Kuka’s new location opens at 580 Perry Ave (next to The Anchorage!) You can check out their full site here.
Until next time!
