Hello it’s Kathryn here with my Week 7 update of my Sportsclub360 Experience. This week I’m going to give you an update of the p.r.e.p. program as well as my routine when I go into the gym.
As a reminder, I’m in their 60 day p.r.e.p. program, which is a great program for individuals who are referred by a physician to get the beneficial impacts of working out. Although I don’t regularly go to the p.r.e.p. sessions based on my baseline of regularly working out, I’m still doing the half program check-up. To do this check-in, I meet with the register nurse to go over my progress so far. It was a thorough meeting based on my goals and needs that I set-up at the start. It was great to sit down with someone to go over my goals half-way through the program to ensure I’m on the right track. The registered nurse then took my measurements of my major muscle groups and body fat measurements. I was consistent with muscle growth in the first 30 days, which was a positive outcome. Overall, this was a great check-up on my fitness journey so far!
Next up I wanted to share my routine of when I’m going into the gym for a weights workout. I prefer to do my cardio workouts outside (running, biking, or hiking) when it’s so nice and then pick the gym for my weights. When I go into the gym I get warmed up on the elliptical or treadmill for about 10 minutes. Warming-up the body is a vital part of every workout to ensure you don’t get hurt. After getting my heartrate up, I pick 2-3 major muscle groups to focus on for that day. For this example, I will use my shoulders, biceps and triceps.
Then I do about 5 exercises for each muscle group and reps of 15, 3 times each. Since my goal is to tone my muscles, I tend to do higher reps with lower weight. This typically takes me about 30 minutes to do all the exercises. Then I do 300 abs which is picking exercises and making sure I hit the number 300. A good example is 100 crunches, 50 side crunches each side, 50 V-ups, and 50 second plank hold. This creates variety in my ab workouts. After I make sure to cool down with either 5 minutes on a cardio machine or a good stretch out. All together this routine takes me about an hour and leaves me feeling strong and accomplished. The great thing about the Sportsclub is they have trainers always available if I have any questions or want any new exercises to try!
I hope everyone gets outside and enjoys this beautiful weather! #sportsclub360
Until next week.
Kathryn
