The Big Dog Show Comes to GVL
Greenville was the first city east of the Mississippi River to display the Wings of the City sculptures. Now, we welcome The Big Dog Show to town! March through July, Greenville will be home to twenty eight feet tall by ten feet long steel dogs!
Massachusetts sculptor Dale Rogers loved art in school. He began working with metal when he taught himself how to repair metal equipment on his family’s farm. Rogers is no stranger to Greenville. He was awarded First Place in the 3-Dimensional Art Category in the 2021 Artisphere.
The Big Dog Show is an extraordinary contribution to our city’s love of outdoor culture. A portion of the proceeds from exhibit partnerships will benefit Greenville County Animal Care and the City of Greenville Arts in Public Places program.
Dog lovers can take part in several events over the next few months. “The Best Dog Show” invites sponsors to add their own collar creations to the sculptures. Sure to be a hit with all ages, the Greenville Police Department will partner to present K-9 demonstrations. Everyone will want to visit the tall dogs at the horse stables in Cleveland Park. The public can donate to Greenville County Animal Care at the Kissing Dogs sculpture using a QR code.
Whether you’re an animal lover, adore art, or simply enjoy a stroll through town, be sure to see Dale Rogers’ creations. Don’t let the dogs leave town before you pay them a visit.
