Family-friendly Earth Day Festivities at Whole Foods Market
As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, Whole Foods will celebrate Earth Day this Saturday, April 22 at the Greenville store, located on Woodruff Road. The event includes several community partners and offers the entire family opportunities to reduce, reuse and recycle.
The celebration kicks off at 8am. with the Habitat for Humanity ReStore’s furniture drive. The ReStore will collect donations of gently used furniture, appliances and housewares. Donating household goods is a sustainable alternative to throwing them away, and proceeds from the sale of these goods at area ReStores are invested back into the mission of Habitat Greenville.
The City of Greenville will also be onsite selling compost bins for $20 each, to encourage reducing household food waste. Additional events include a free Southern Om yoga class, a pop up lunch, a science presentation from local students and a kids’ craft.
8:00 -11:00 a.m.: Habitat ReStore furniture and household goods drive; City of Greenville compost bins for sale. Cultivate a new life for your old stuff and a garden of fresh produce, all in one stop.
11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: Free Southern Om yoga class on the Whole Foods patio. Bring a mat, towel, water, and good vibes.
12:00-2:00 p.m.: Join us for Buddha Bowls, featuring delicious grains and vegetables, on the patio ($7, includes a drink).
12:00-1:00 p.m.: Learn about pollinators and their role in maintaining a healthy planet with students from Fairforest Middle School and Dorman High School, a Whole Kids Foundation honey bee grant recipient.
2:00-3:00 p.m.: Free kids’ craft in the Whole Foods café. We’ll be making colorful candle holders! Bring a wide-mouthed jar (like a pasta jar); all other supplies are provided. This activity is appropriate for children ages five and above.
