Magic, not Mayhem: A Guide to Greenville Mornings
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a self-professed night owl. I thrive in creativity and conversations as the dusk starts to fall. Recently, due to my crazy school schedule, I’ve been trying to delve into the untouched morning hours, sometimes even before sunrise. It’s not always a successful endeavor, but when it is, I realize what potential the morning holds.
1. Wake up to a happy song.
Alarms are the bane of my existence. My recent goal has been to add a song to the mundane, and my pick is “Sugar” by Maroon 5. When I get in my car in the morning, I am addicted to The Pulse on Sirius XM, channel 15. Whether it’s The Chainsmokers or Katy Perry, I love the morning drive to a coffee shop with the musical encouragement.
Tip: Methodical, Bex, and Caviar & Bananas all open at 7 am, for you early birds out there.
2. Make a coffee date with a friend.
Accountability is key. If you find someone to connect with and keep you accountable for your morning meetings or conversations, that’s the way to do it. It makes getting out of bed in the morning much easier. Coleen and I had a few Methodical mornings that made my day so much better.
3. Write it out.
Even if you’re not an avid word lover like me, words are a way to process your feelings tangibly. I prefer physically writing in my Passion Planner with a pencil, but if you’re prone to technological musings, go for it! Starting your day with thoughts and ideas improves your creativity and drive.
4. Listen to your world.
Have you ever wondered what the morning sounds like? Whether it’s the clink of your coffee cup or the tires against the pavement, there are some sounds unmasked in the mornings that you’ve never heard before. These are parts of your world to notice, but also to take into consideration when the day gets the busiest.
5. Surround yourself with brightness.
When are you your happiest self? Remember those times, whether morning or night. I love bright colors, and that’s what inspires me to move forward. Look to Instagram for inspiration, or have a motivational phone background for those dark morning hours.
Believe me, I know. Mornings are hard for us night thinkers and perusers. Greenville has great ways to make those early hours better! Take advantage of living local, and follow my adventures here.
