The magic started long before the opening number.
As audience members flooded the lobby, tiny Elsas and Annas appeared everywhere! Sparkling blue gowns twirled around the room in anticipation of the opening doors. One family even dressed as the entire cast of characters. Watching children (and adults) beam with excitement may have been my favorite moment of the afternoon. Of course, once the curtain rose, the production gave guests plenty more to talk about.
Greenville Theatre delivered a performance that felt remarkably close to a Broadway touring performance. The cast was strong, with vocals that consistently exceeded expectations. The lead characters handled the familiar songs with confidence and emotion, while the supporting cast brought energy and humor (we’re looking at you, Olaf!) throughout the show. The set design transformed the stage with surprising creativity, and several theatrical “tricks” drew audible reactions from the audience. I might have gasped a couple of times alongside the four year old next to me.
Whether it was a magical effect, a clever transition, or technical illusion, the production team clearly put significant effort into creating the wonder we all expect from Frozen. Greenville Theatre managed to create something fresh and engaging while honoring the source material.

The energy in the room never waned. Even before the show began, Greenville Theatre’s director set a welcoming tone with a genuinely funny introduction that had us laughing and ready for the adventure ahead.
For the children dressed as their favorite characters, it was pure magic. For adults, it was a reminder of how much local theater can accomplish when talent, creativity and community come together on one stage. If the standing ovation was any indication, Greenville Theatre didn’t just bring Arendelle to Greenville – they made it feel right at home.
All the little Elsas know where they want to be this summer. If you’d like to join them in Arendelle, Frozen runs through June 28. Visit the Greenville Theatre website to grab your tickets!
