Team Building with Fairway Subaru at Escape Artist…
Meet just a few members of my team – Nick, Bradley, Brian, Peter, and Daniel. We work at Fairway Subaru, a Subaru car dealership and service center in Greenville, SC. We are headed to the Escape Artist on Stone Avenue, because we have been challenged to escape from Dr. Fratelli’s Cabin escape room in one hour.
Our room host, Isaac, greets us, leads us to our room, and starts the clock. No hints or initial clues are provided to us, so we search the room together to begin our escape out. Our goal is to escape by cracking difficult clues and solving mind-bending riddles throughout the room. The clock is ticking, and the challenge is on to get out as fast as possible.
Fast forward to only one minute remaining on the clock. My team and I have one final clue to solve before we master the room and escape the evil psychologist, Dr. Fratelli. We piece together the final portions of a riddle, each person playing a vital role in the fast solve. The riddle gives us the answer we need to open the last door to escape. Bradley races to the lock to open while we cheer him on. The lock opens, and the clock stops. We escape Dr. Fratelli’s cabin in the woods with only ONE second to spare. Together, we did it! Our Fairway Subaru team crushed the Escape Artist’s epic room by working as a team.
Listed below are three reasons why escape rooms, like Dr. Fratelli’s Cabin at Escape Artist, serve as great building activities for your team.
- Your team learns how to communicate better in an escape room. Inside the room, we quickly developed a communication strategy by sharing each clue with each other as we found them. Ensuring that each team member remained on the same page was crucial in our success of moving forward in the game. The pressure of the ticking clock was on, and communicating was key to staying on course. Every team member played a role in communicating efficiently, and we learned how to better communicate with each other.
- Your team collaborates and works together in achieving a goal. As clues were found and communicated, we collaborated together to solve the difficult problem. By putting our heads together, we gained each team member’s valuable input and were able to solve the problem faster then we would alone. Working together as a united team allowed us to achieve our goal of escaping together. Teamwork was pivotal in our success.
- Your team bonds. By working closely together to achieve a fun goal, our team’s bond was strengthened. We truly relied on each other throughout the entire escape room, all while having fun and making great memories in the process. Together, we beat the clock and escaped. Those relationships have been strengthened for all work projects moving forward.
