Starting this Thursday, March 14th, Centre Stage will be inviting audiences to go on a journey with some of their favorite storybook characters as they explore how so many fairy tales intertwine in this season’s production of Into the Woods.
Featuring beloved characters such as Rapunzel, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and more, this story explores the steps that a baker and his wife must take to break a spell which has made them childless. The witch who cast the spell gives them a list of items they must collect in order to reverse the curse and restore her beauty. In order to collect a milk white cow, hair as yellow as corn, a blood red cape, and a slipper of gold, the baker and his wife journey into the woods and interact with each of the storybook characters. Along the way, the audience will discover how every story in this enchanted kingdom is connected as Jack, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood all complete their own quests too.
A little darker
While this show features an entertaining story with morals throughout, this humorous and witty production is more along the line of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. Audiences will see their favorite stories and characters in a darker context than how Disney portrayed them. Unlike a Disney movie, will these characters end up with true happily ever after? Come wander into the woods and find out.
Into the Woods runs through March and April on the following dates.
Thursday- Saturday on March 14-16, 21-23, 28-30 at 8pm
Sundays on March 17, 24 and 31 at 3pm
