Get ready to ring in summer with fun and festivities June 20-23 along Augusta Road! They’ll have live music, food, dancing, games, contests and activities for all ages during the 7th annual Summer on Augusta.
Augusta Road is home to some of Greenville’s most revered shops, restaurants, and real estate. Each year, the Augusta Road Business Association invites the community to celebrate during this four-day event. This year’s event is presented, once again, by longtime Greenville resident and Realtor, Virginia Hayes of Coldwell Banker Caine. Virginia can help you find the home or property of your dreams.
Many businesses and shops on Augusta Road will have sidewalk sales and offer specials and discounts all four days. You can check out the list of participating vendors here to see what deals your favorite retailer has in store for you.
The event kicks off on Thursday, June 20th, with a block party at Caper’s Place from 5-8pm. Kelly Jo & Buffaloe will entertain with their unique mix of pop, soul, rock, and alternative music. Table 301 will provide food and drinks. There will also be crafts, bouncy slides, balloon animals, face painting, and other activities for the whole family.
The fun continues Friday, June 21st at Augusta Commons. Special guest Eric Mitchell will emcee Grillin’ & Chillin’ from 6-9pm. The evening will include family activities such as a hula hoop contest, face painting, Minute to Win It contest, and your very own Greenville High School cheerleaders. The Dive on Augusta will provide yummy BBQ, food, and drinks. S&J Mobile DJ will bring the tunes!
The momentum mounts Saturday with events at the Pickwick and Tipsy Taco. From 2-4pm, head over to the The Pickwick Pharmacy for the annual Southern Style Tomato Pie Contest. Once the pies have been judged, they can be sampled! Interested in showcasing your culinary skills and entering the contest? Entry rules can be found here. While you are tasting the yummy creations, Alberta Pottery and Sarah Farrar will have their fabulous sculptures and artwork on display. Enjoy drink specials during Happy Hour, 4-7pm, at Tipsy Taco. Jamie Wright will be providing a variety of live music while you enjoy the evening.
Sunday, June 23rd, rounds out the weekend in spectacular fashion. No celebration in the south would be complete without the SCSD (South Carolina State Dance.) Put on your dancing shoes and join Shaggin’ on Augusta from 4-7pm at Augusta Commons. Bring your lawn chairs (seriously, bring your own chairs so you have a place to sit) and cellphone to help judge the Shag dance contest. Four teams will compete and you help decide the winner! Live Carolina beach music by The Shag Doctorz will get people of all ages out of their chairs and onto the dance floor. Food, drinks, and fun top off the entire four-day event.
For the first three nights, after the primary festivities, head on over to The 05 from 7:30-11pm for live music by Tim White (Thur, June 20th), Trey Francis (Friday, June 21st), and Louie Sagedy (Sat, June 22nd.)
