Unearthed by Eleanor Palmer at 906 Art Gallery

A solo exhibition featuring the work of Eleanor Palmer.

A statement from the artist:
I stepped outside, confronted by the raw ocean waves tearing through mountain skies.
Born and cradled in these sacred mountains, I had never before felt them tremble, or
witnessed creek beds knocking at front doors, demanding to be let in. Tires hung on the
treetops; homes lay in broken pieces; roads erased completely; families scattered,
struggling, missing. Helene, what have you done? Held in disbelief, I was consumed by the
loudest silence I have ever heard. Together, we inhaled. Together, we exhaled, releasing an
intuitive, collective cry.

As an artist, I practice listening deeply to the language of nature and leaning into the
guidance of intuition. Navigating the wilderness of grief, I found myself in a trance,
absorbing the new landscapes around me. I fell in love with the vibrant colors revealed in
Helene’s aftermath. I was inspired by the rich red clay clinging to the roots of fallen oaks.
Sitting by the creeks, I marveled at the shifting constellations of mica in the wet sand. I
drew closer to the present moment, feeling both collected and scattered, buried and
unearthed, falling apart and coming together all at once.

As you enter this space with me, I invite you to explore the interplay of chaos and comfort
presented through a mixture of mediums and a mixture of paint and natural minerals.

experiences, visually exploring the soft, void spaces alongside the bold, textured gestures.
