I had been hearing a lot about Iron Tribe Fitness (ITF) from members past and present so my interest was definitely peaked before I finally got the change to check them out. If you know someone that does Iron Tribe and you’ve heard them talk about it, then you probably already get it. People rave about it.
Iron Tribe Fitness has two locations in Greenville, one on Augusta Road and the other on Woodruff Road. I had the opportunity to recently work out with the Augusta Road crew. Let me be clear when I tell you that the Iron Tribe staff did me a solid by letting me pop in for a workout. You typically can’t drop in and take a class.
First off, ITF doesn’t put their true class schedule online and you can’t reserve a spot or sign up on their website. You have to call and set up a consultation before you can workout. Initially this turned me off because it seemed like a hurdle to getting a workout in, but the trainers at ITF want you to be educated and safe. They are one of the only facilities that also offers a 101 program focused on getting you up to speed and able to handle their workouts like a pro.
Once I got to the facility I noticed a lot of equipment I had seen before: rowers, barbells, weight plates, and boxes. There were large expanses of open space and the workout was up on a white board on the wall. While I’ve never done Crossfit myself, this all looked pretty similar. I felt at home thanks to other HIIT workouts at Madabolic and UFC Gym, so everything felt pretty familiar. The trainers then took the time to explain everything we would be doing. I was never left without any idea of what to do, the trainers definitely helped guide me and integrated me into the fold.
The workout was challenging, but what I was most surprised at was how rewarding it was. Everyone there really wanted to be there and felt 100% focused on the workout. The trainers were calling me out by name and made the whole atmosphere feel welcoming and electric at the same time.
While I would love to go back, ITF isn’t the place for occasional visits that can be added in with lots of other workouts. A membership is pricey and most people that go have it as their sole training method. Think 3-4 times per week to really use their training program effectively. If you’re somebody that needs to commit and is interested in a great environment, challenging workouts, accountability, and nutrition guidance all-in-one – check them out!
I have no doubt that this place will deliver you results, especially because they foster an environment of showing up and hanging with your tribe! You can check out their full site here.
Until next time!
Sincerely,
Lindsey aka Get Fit GVL
