Since I’ve been young, I have been a runner. My dad and I started running together when I was in middle school. As I’ve grown up, my passion for running has only grown. There is something about the feeling of accomplishment when you’ve reached your goal (time or distance!) that has made me enjoy the sport so much.
I have set a few goals for myself in 2019. One of those goals is to run a half marathon (13.1 miles.) My dad has joined me on my journey to the finish line, and we started our training this week.
The half marathon I am running in is on Saturday, May 18th (Mountains to Main Street & 5K) so my training schedule is a 16 week plan. It includes three runs a week, two cross training days, and one rest day.
Today is my long run day, so I’m wearing my Kentwool Graduate Compression socks. I’ve learned that wearing compression socks helps prevent injuries and improve circulation, so I’ll be wearing them on all of my long runs. Also, I love how Kentwool’s merino wool keeps my feet warm as I train during the winter months!
Over the coming months, I will be journaling about my training on greenville360.com. Stay tuned for more information on my training schedule, running tips and my progression as the race day approaches. I’m excited to be racing towards the finish line with you!
