Hello again, Greenville!
It’s Kathryn here with an update on my Sportsclub360 Experience. I can’t believe it’s already been 5 weeks since starting my fitness journey at this great gym! For this edition I’m going to tell you all about my trail run and the Raised Barre class I attended from this week.
This past weekend I met up with my friend of 12 years to race in a trail run quarter marathon at The Tuck Fest. The Tuck Fest is a 4-day outdoor festival located at the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC. It was a quick hour and half drive from Greenville and is definitely a place you need to visit if you enjoy hiking, biking, rafting, or even enjoying some yummy food while watching kayakers and rafts go down the man-made rapids. I heard and signed up for the race 10-days prior to race day, so I only had about a week to train! It was a 7-mile race on the rocky, rooty and rolling hills of the mountain biking/hiking trials.
The race kicked off at 8am and was a only chilly 32 degrees. It was a great experience overall and so fun to be running on the trials because you are constantly thinking about where you place your feet so you don’t trip! After the race, I did about an hour of f yoga flow, which was a great way to stretch out after the hour long run. Even though I didn’t properly train for this, I felt prepared due to my running and working out at Sportsclub. I believe if you’re active and doing something involving working out regularly you can do anything you put your mind to! I think now I have race fever and I have already signed up for the Swamp Rabbit 5K in about 10 days and I’m even debating the Mountain to Mainstreet Half Marathon in the middle of May!
After a day of recovery on Sunday, I attended my first GroupX class at Sportsclub. It was a cold and rainy Monday, so it was a perfect day to go workout with other individuals in this upbeat and fast paced barre class. The Raised Barre class was an hour long class that does very small isolated movement to target and tone key muscles. This was not my first barre class, but it is a class that anyone can easily pick up and enjoy. The music included hit music that everyone knows and all the movements went to the beat making it so fun, that I forgot I was even working out! The hour flew by and my muscles felt toned yet stretched out at the same time. The classes at Sportsclub are great because you don’t have to sign up prior to class time, but instead get a little pass to ensure you have a spot before going to get ready for your class. It is nice to not have to sign up days before, but just decide in the moment. I’m excited to keep exploring all the other classes and compare them. So stay tuned!
Goodbye for now Greenville! #sportsclub360
