Spreading Holiday Cheer at Ice on Main…
Ice on Main has become a Christmas staple around Greenville.
My family visited a couple of weeks ago for the first time this season. I was pleasantly surprised with a few of the changes. Right off the bat I noticed the new benches. There’s so much more room to sit and lace up your skates. And plenty of room for those of us watching people lace up their skates because we’re too chicken to actually participate.
Be sure to check their website for promotional days and special events. I’m here to share with you why Wednesdays are so special.
Every Wednesday you’ll find a tent set up with supplies for visitors to make cards for kiddos at The Children’s Hospital. You can also bring a brand new Teddy Bear with you and that will be donated to a patient at The Children’s Hospital (PS, when you do bring that bear, you’ll receive Half Price on skating every Wednesday!)
Growing up, I had a brother who was sick. He spent a lot of time in the hospital. Maybe that’s why I was so drawn to the table. Receiving a colorful handmade card at Christmas would have meant the world to him.
It’s important to remember that the holidays don’t usher in cheer for everyone.
If we can make one child‘s day brighter, sign us up for that!
Making a Christmas card for a sick child is a great way to remind your family of how good it feels to do something nice for someone, expecting nothing in return. Skating was fabulous fun, as always, but we came away that Wednesday with more than a red nose and frozen hands.
You can check out even more holiday cheer this week here.
