The Plus Side to the Pandemic…
It’s all you see when you turn on the television. Know what? There’s a remedy for that. Watch less television! Scroll past the news posts on Facebook. It’s important to stay informed, but do it without dwelling on all the negatives.
Most weeks we crave a blank square on the calendar. But when you’re mandated to stop most normal (definition escapes me) activities, suddenly we’re bored out of our minds and panicking. It’s so easy to worry and allow anxiety to overwhelm us.
I thought I’d share a list of things we’re doing in our household to stay somewhat grounded.
- Long walks around the neighborhood.
- Binge watch Disney movies and TV series on Netflix.
- Play obscene amounts of UNO and Mexican Train, <insert game of choice>.
- Read, read, and then read some more.
- Clean and organize around the house.
- Write/journal
- Invent new ways to exercise – inside and out.
- Plan homeschool activities for the kids.
- Bake or cook new dishes.
In times like these, it’s essential to be reminded of everything we have to be thankful for.
The news is so sad and depressing, yet I’m finding social media to be quite the opposite.
Have you noticed?
Whole communities are coming together. Teachers are reaching out to help families. Homeschool parents are sharing ideas with those who have little to no experience with home learning. Local Influencers are starting campaigns to help local businesses. Individuals working from home are offering to babysit for parents who have to leave home to work. Businesses are gathering and shipping supplies to local hospitals, fire stations and other public service heroes.
It’s heartwarming.
Don’t set an alarm (even try silencing your cell before you fall asleep). Enjoy this time with your family. Check on extended family members and neighbors who are at greater risk from this virus. Stay home…stay well… stay sane!
I hope this helps even in a small way. Tag us on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter and share how you’re staying positive!
