There’s a new massage therapist in town. Please welcome, Elaina Wagner! She recently joined the Upstate Spine & Sport team and is also the official massage therapist for the Greenville Triumph. Elaina specializes in over 9+ different massage techniques to help each individual patient to meet their personal goals. Now let’s go meet Elaina Wagner of Upstate Spine & Sport.
360: Why massage therapy?
Elaina: Health Education and Natural Healing has always been a part of my family since I can remember. My father is a MD, my mother is a 20-year yoga studio entrepreneur and we grew up on an organic/sustainable crop farm. I started practicing yoga at 7 years old and trained to be a 500 hr RYT in my late teens. Unfortunately, I was in a traumatic car wreck as an adolescent, and it allowed me to experience chronic pain at a young age. I was determined to manage my pain through natural methods. It was a slow progression, but between yoga, massage, chiropractic, acupuncture, nutrition, proper breathing and positive mindset; I was able to overcome the majority of my pain. It was extremely eye opening to be on one side of the spectrum with pain, and on the other with freedom. No one should have to mask their pain or allow it to control their lives. I want to shout this from the mountain tops! That’s why I chose massage therapy.
360: What brought you to Upstate Spine & Sport?
Elaina: Since I’m fairly new to Greenville, I was surfing the web for Chiropractic Clinics and came across Upstate Spine & Sport. I started following their social media page and then we agreed to link up. From there, we formed a wellness team for the Greenville Triumph and now, I’m their Massage Therapist!
360: What do you love most about your job?
Elaina: There are so many avenues I could take this, but in simple terms; I find joy in helping others. I love using different techniques and tools to help patients combat pain, postural/energy imbalances and find equilibrium in overall well-being.
360: What are different services you provide?
Elaina: At the moment, I offer Thai Bodywork, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular, Myofascial Release, Lymphatic Movement, Medi-Cupping, Prenatal, Orthopedic and Sports Massage. With that said, I’m always learning and trying to stay current with continuing education, so keep checking in!
360: What’s next at Upstate Spine & Sport?
Elaina: The hope is to keep growing (clinic’s size, services and educationally) while offering quality services that truly meet the goals that our patients have. We are determined to work with our patients to a place where they can healthily manage their own wellness, or even overcome obstacles that once held them back.
360: When you’re not massaging patients, what do you love to do around Greenville?
Elaina: Greenville has so much to offer in terms of food, art and entertainment. I love to go to yoga studios, cycle classes, live music venues, organic eateries and local breweries. I enjoy hiking at Paris MTN, walking downtown with my Siberian Husky and engaging in art fairs or festivals.
360: Thanks, Elaina! It was great meeting you. We hope you continue loving Greenville! We’ll see you for a massage soon.
