Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery: Now & Then…
For most people, simply the word “work” is stress-inducing.
For me, work is a place to have fun, connect with some amazing people in the community, eat great food, and make long-lasting friendships.
How many people can say that about their job?
In 2017, I was looking for my first ever job. I brainstormed daily about where I could apply as a fifteen-year-old, and what position I could possibly land with no experience.
The Swamp Rabbit Cafe had been one of mine and my family’s favorite pit-stops on the trail, and we were very frequent customers. At 15, I considered the Swamp my dream job, and I decided to take a leap of faith and fill out an application in early 2018.
After some follow up emails and call-backs, I was hired and elated to begin working at Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery as a Childcare Assistant. About a year ago, I switched gears (and departments), and I began working in Pizza as an Expo. Since then, I’ve remained a Pizza Expo while also training for different roles within Pizza.

Working at Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery has opened up countless opportunities for me, from building a large friend group of people my age, to getting up close and personal with local farmers and community members. Calling the employees of Swamp Rabbit a family would be entirely accurate; working with local food is difficult at times, and working as a team is essential to the process.

Fun is definitely a core value at Swamp, and it shows through the hard work and passion that it takes to run a small business and restaurant. If you’re interested in joining the Swamp fam, click here to read about their values and job opportunities!
The hundreds of loyal customers throughout the years are the reason for the Swamp’s success, and we owe it to the people who took a chance on us eight years ago, and those who continue to support us and buy locally today!

Recently, Swamp Rabbit has added a bunch of new seasonal items, as well as an expansion to their Butchery, which now doubles as a Deli. There’s also several new salads, sandwiches and pizzas now on the menu.

Bringing people together for a dance party or a celebration is one of the things Swamp does best, and Swamp events are seriously fun for all ages.
