Eat local. Ride bikes. What better way to describe the cafe and grocery store conveniently located on the Swamp Rabbit Trail? A favorite of cyclists, Greenville locals, and tourists alike, Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery provides great local produce, classes, and products for our community. They also have a pretty fun and active Instagram. For more information about the amazing founders of this local landmark, check out the Upstate Business Journal article here.
I recently visited Swamp Rabbit for the first time in a while, and I was amazed at the options and variety in the store. I love the redesign and the “Eat local. Ride bikes” mantra painted in the grocery section of the store.
1. Cheesy, I Know
My first move when I go to the cafe is to make a beeline for the Brazilian cheese puffs. These are absolutely my favorite food to get at Swamp Rabbit, other than the strawberry doughnut. Second move: the mocha. Counter Culture Coffee is too good to resist.
2. Eat local. Ride bikes.
The message is clear: love where you live, and bike to find it. While I didn’t bike to Swamp Rabbit on my adventure this time, it’s always been a goal. I always love eating local, though, so you can find me browsing the cheese and chocolate instead. I’m also partial to local fruit, so the strawberries looked particularly scrumptious.
3. Light Up Your Day
Little did I know that this fruit and vegetable masterpiece was above my head until I got the idea for this blog post and began to explore with my eyes. I happened upon this gem and loved that the decor of the cafe even extended to the lampshades. Aesthetics are my jam (food pun intended), and the natural light in the background was a plus also.
4. All Booked Up
Books are my favorite objects in this world, and I loved the creative and cute designs on the front of these recipe books. My personal choice would be either apples or chocolate, though buttermilk looks promising too. Wouldn’t you love to be the designer of these little gems? New career path for me?
5. The Final Countdown
You can’t leave Swamp Rabbit without purchasing from both the cafe and the grocery. I insist. I wandered around the grocery with a friend and loved the “Kissed Mermaids” chocolate bar with its captivating design and ode to the beach on the back. Accompanying the chocolate bar are two chai lollipops. At first taste, there’s a sharp cinnamon twang with a sweet aftertaste. What fun treats for a fun day.
I always enjoy my visits to Swamp Rabbit, and I hope you will too! Follow my Greenville adventures here.
