The Peace Center’s Summer Concert Series kicked off at the Peace Pavilion, once again turning the city’s prettiest corners into an open-air music venue for the warmer months ahead.

There are few settings better suited for a summer concert than this one. By ‘few,’ I mean, none. The river in the background. The tree cover. The ability to wander downtown before the show and linger afterward. It feels distinctly Greenville in the best possible way.
The season opened with Robert Cray, whose decades-long career in blues and soul made for a strong start to the series. Cray has spent more than fifty years creating music that blends rock and rhythm & blues. Five Grammy Awards and nineteen studio albums later, he’s still touring.
The rest of the concert lineup continues that mix of established favorites.
May 13, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy brings an energetic blend of swing and jazz to the amphitheater. The band became synonymous with the swing revival of the late nineties, appearing in Swingers, film soundtracks, and television performances. Even a Super Bowl Halftime Show!
June 17, Cowboy Junkies take the stage with a quieter sound they’ve been known for since the release of The Trinity Session. Their music seems reflective rather than flashy – the kind of performance perfect for an outdoor evening downtown.
August 16, Andy Frasco & The U.N. along with Kitchen Dwellers. If earlier shows promise laid-back summer evenings, this one promises the opposite: loud, high-energy fun!
Greenville’s summer concert season never feels entirely about the music. It’s the full evening – dinner downtown, walking the bridge afterward, hearing live music drift through the trees along the Reedy. The Peace Summer Concert Series gives everyone another reason to hang out a little longer.
