Duke Strong during the Pandemic…
Bob Dylan once sang, “These Times They Are A-Changin.” Looking over the past few months, truer words have never been spoken (or sung, in this case.) Unique circumstances pop up daily forcing us to re-think our routines. In times like these, it’s comforting to know that some things never change. Duke Sandwich Co. and Duke Foods is still a neighborhood staple, providing traditional southern spreads and dips we all love.
Many businesses have been forced to furlough loyal employees as a result of closings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only has Duke Foods retained treasured workers, but they’ve hired part-time and permanent help. Matthew Haskell, Vice-President of Marketing & Product Innovation, says, “Outside of being so fortunate to continue my full-time employment, it’s been wonderful to watch our teams come together and grow through this crisis. The uncertainty and added stress brought our teams closer together. It’s been a wonderful thing to be able to give people jobs in our manufacturing operations.”
Duke’s has maintained normal procedures while stepping up to make a difference in the community. In Charlotte, North Carolina Duke Foods donated chicken salad spreads and dips to the Loaves and Fishes food bank. Duke Sandwich’s two Greenville restaurants have provided lunches to those in need at Gateway House, a local metal health organization.
Native Greenvillians, and true Duke Sandwich fans, are familiar with how Duke’s has actively supported their neighborhood for over one hundred years. You can read more about the company’s history here.
The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged everyone to find new ways to meet the needs and desires of our families. Relying on old friends, like Duke’s, has made that task a little bit easier.
Please take this time to re-connect with your children and others in your household.
And maybe order a sandwich or three!
