Hello Greenville! It’s Kathryn again with a Week 4 update on my Sportsclub360 Experience. It was another busy week for me, but as always I made time to stay active and get in the gym at least twice this week. I just signed up for a Quarter Marathon Run at The Tuck Fest in a week. So to prepare I’ve been running more outside and then training at the Sportsclub for a little cross training and weights. Last week I went in for a p.r.e.p session where we focused more on my biceps and triceps (getting ready for tank top weather!) I also went in on that rainy Sunday afternoon to get my legs moving after a Saturday spent climbing Mount Mitchell. After every big hike, race, or run I make sure I get in the gym to stretch out and do an easy spin out for my legs. This helps me not get as sore!
My p.r.e.p. session went well with my trainer Adam. Adam did a great training plan for me that outlined 4-5 exercises by the big muscle groups. My plan includes legs, shoulders, biceps, triceps and core. I focused on my biceps and triceps this week since I have been doing so much running and haven’t been doing a ton of arm exercises. I did various exercises with dumbbells, a barbell, machines and bands. After a 20-minute session my arms were super tired and very sore for the next 3 days.
At the end of the session, I went over to the functional weight area (Warrior Training) and had fun with different exercises. In this area everyone working out was so friendly and working together even though it was not a class! It was so great that everyone in this area of the gym was working together and then started having fun with activities together. I taught everyone handstands and handstand walks, which I have been doing since I was 6 years old. We also started trying muscle ups which I am working on. I will keep you updated when I master it again.
On Sunday, I went to Sportsclub for an easy day in the gym to get out of my apartment and get my blood moving after an active weekend. I hopped on the elliptical for 30-minutes and watched a little HGTV. After a nice easy cardio session, I grabbed a yoga mat and did some abs. After that, I hit the sauna for a nice muscle relaxer and a great way to end my weekend!
Stay tuned for next week after I completed my 6.5 trail run and tell how I hit the gym while cramming my training for that in 10 days!
Until next week!
Kathyrn
