Hey Greenville! I hope everyone has been enjoying this past week’s hot and beautiful weather. It was a great opportunity to get outside and get moving! This week I’m going to giving my 2 month update (time flies!) on my Sportsclub360 Experience and tell you more about how I stay active in this summer heat!
This week I got to go to the gym more than usual which was nice and a good way to beat the heat, but still get a nice workout in. In the summertime since after work it’s so hot, I try to do a run or bike in the morning before it warms up and then hit the gym for some weights in the afternoon. My goal is to lift weights about 2-3 times per week to supplement my cardio. This week I went in 3 times and got back into the swing of lifting. I mentioned my typical gym schedule last week (here) and I stayed consistent with that.
After bouldering last Sunday, I realized I need to start building up some arm strength again and really focus in on getting better at chin-ups! It’s funny sometimes by doing an activity you realize areas of improvement and what to focus on better for next time. To do this, I’m loving the functional weight lifting area at the Sportsclub because it’s just like a CrossFit gym. It has everything from a lifting cage with chin-up bars and barbell wracks to a sled, and ropes for a different type of training. I really like this area to have a little spot with everything I need to have a good workout and not waste time walking all over the gym!
After a great 3 days in the gym this weekend I had a bike filled weekend. I’m definitely getting much stronger by doing weights, which makes other activities like mountain biking much easier. On Saturday I woke up early and did a nice long 35 mile bike ride. I rode on the Swamp Rabbit Trail to Paris Mountain and went up and over and back for a nice 2,500 feet of climbing. This was the perfect way to start my weekend! On Sunday, I drove to DuPont Forest for more mountain biking. It was so much fun and they have a great mixture of technical and flowy trails. For anyone who likes mountain biking or wants to try it out, I highly suggest the DuPont area and it’s only short hour drive that was beautiful over Cesars Head.
Well that is a wrap for me this week! With a stormy forecast ahead of us this week, the gym is a great place to get the heart rate up and build up some muscles while it’s rainy and wet outside. Have a great week, y’all!
