MAC Event Schedule: May-July 2020…
Believe or not we’re already in Q2 of MAC’S event schedule of 2020! And despite the pandemic of COVID-19, things are still in motion in the world of Greenville art across the Upstate. So let’s jump right in on what’s happening right now and what to look forward in the coming months (even if we’re still at home!)
Every Friday during Social Distancing
Artists and arts organizations depend on events that have been cancelled due to COVID-19. Listed below are ways you can help each Friday as we practice social distancing. Tag MAC with how you #SupportLocalArts
- Purchase a CD or merchandise from a local musician
- Buy a book from a local author
- Commission a work of art from a local artist
- Donate to an arts organization or purchase a ticket to a future show
- Purchase a piece of art or a gift card from an artists’ website
- Donate to MAC to receive an ArtCard valid through July 2021
- Share and comment on posts from local artists and arts organizations on social media
Artists can find this post each Friday to share their websites, social pages and promos with the Greeenville Community.

Tuesday, May 5th
MAC will be participating in #GivingTuesdayNow on Tuesday, May 5th, a global day of generosity and unity, a day to come together and give back in response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19, no matter who or where we are.
The coronavirus pandemic has had detrimental effects on all of us. In addition to threatened wellness for the entire population, many business sectors have been forced to devise new ways to maintain financial stability. Many are faltering, and very few are thriving.
The arts community in Greenville has also taken a huge hit due to COVID-19. Estimated losses for the major arts groups will exceed $3 million by the end of the year.
Loss of revenue in ticket sales, donations and sponsorships will force certain groups to have reductions in staff and to seriously curtail the number of cultural offerings they present.
It is difficult to imagine a November without Greenville Open Studios and First Fridays without open galleries and our school district without arts integration programs.
Please make a donation through their Facebook campaign here or their website on Tuesday, May 5th if you are able, so that we can continue to be Greenville’s trusted and impassioned champion of the arts. You can find out even more info here.
Friday, June 19th & Saturday, June 20th
MAC’s 24-hour art-making event, Flat Out Under Pressure will take place on Friday, June 19th and Sunday, June 20th. PS, this event may turn into a virtual viewing so stay tuned! In the meantime, you can see all of the Downtown Greenville recycling bins featuring works from last year’s winners on their website here.
