MAC Event Preview: July-September 2022
Hello, Summer! As always there is a lot to look forward to in our art community across the Upstate. Here is a quick look at all the upcoming Metropolitan Arts Council events for July-September, 2022. #SupportGVLArts!
Now through July 15
Flat Out Under Pressure at Metropolitan Arts Council
On Friday, June 10th, 120+ artists arrived at MAC to have their blank surfaces stamped, and the clock started ticking! They had 24 hours to return those surfaces as completed works of art, competing to win amazing prizes and a chance to have their work featured on one of the recycling bins throughout Downtown Greenville. Come visit this high-pressure exhibit and see what local artists created in just 24 hours! For more details click here.

Now through July 29
Between Worlds: The Art of JoAnn Borovicka at Centre Stage
This new exhibit combines folk-art aesthetics with surreal imagery, this mixed media exhibit strives to capture something of that ephemeral moment between dreaming and waking up – that moment when incompatible and perhaps disquieting images from your dream linger and make perfect harmonious sense.
Centre Stage gallery is open during weekend performances and weekday box office hours: Tuesday-Friday from 2-5pm

Art Tent at Piedmont Natural Gas Downtown Alive at NOMA Square every Thursday from 5:30-8:30pm
Check out MAC’s Art Tent that showcases different local artists or an art organization at Piedmont Natural GasDowntown Alive at NOMA Square every Thursday now through August 25th. This vibrant weekly celebration serves as MAC’s single largest fundraiser!
July 29-September 2
An Intimate Survey: works by artist Gerry Wubben at Metropolitan Arts Council
Reception: Friday, August 4th | 6-8pm
Designed to give a glimpse into the artistic oeuvre of the artist, this exhibition features the scope of Wubben’s visual realm: drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and digital art.
Gerry Wubben is a multifaceted artist who specializes in monumental charcoal drawings, paintings, sculpture, printmaking, and theater design. He is currently based in Greenville, SC where he maintains a vigorous studio practice. For more details click here.

First Friday Gallery Crawl with Metropolitan Arts Council around the Upstate 6-9pm

Words Objectified by artist A-N-D
Reception: Friday, August 12th | 6-8pm at Centre Stage
A visual representation of the power of words and the impact that they have on our daily lives.

Salsa at Sunset with Upstate International at Camperdown Plaza 6-10pm
Dance the night away at Camperdown Plaza! With dance lessons starting at 6pm and open dance starting at 7pm. This event is FREE and open to the public from 6-10pm. For more details about Upstate International click here.
