Greenville, S.C.  – The Barbara Stone Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on supporting visionary and creative programs for individuals with disabilities, will host a special event called ‘CAN Talks’ where five individuals with disabilities, living in the Upstate, share their unique stories or insights to spark new conversations, challenge outdated stereotypes and broaden perspectives.

An inclusive dance group from Carolina Dance Collaborative will perform a powerful dance performance.

“The first-ever ‘Can Talks’ event held was in 2019, and we are excited about our 2023 speakers who will highlight self-advocacy, broaden perspectives about disabilities, and promote the importance of inclusion,” said Lara Ceisel, executive director of the Barbara Stone Foundation. “We have a powerful line-up of speakers, living with disabilities and passionate about breaking down barriers rooted in false assumptions.”

Doors open at 6:00 p.m., a cocktail reception and presentation for Barbara Stone Foundation’s Fall ‘Community Innovations’ grant winners will start at 6:30 p.m. ‘CAN Talks’ begins at 7:00 p.m. A sign language interpreter will be available for the hearing impaired, and accommodations will be made for guests upon request.
