Miracle On 34th Street at Pickens County Performing Arts Center
When Kris Kringle, a kindly older man from a retirement home, is hired as Santa Claus at Macy’s, his genuine spirit of generosity quickly spreads throughout New York City. Rather than simply sending customers to Macy’s, Kris encourages parents to shop wherever they can find the perfect gifts for their children. But not everyone believes Kris is who he claims to be. Macy’s vocational counselor considers him delusional and dangerous and attempts to have him committed to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital. Kris ultimately finds himself in a courtroom, where his competency—and the very existence of Santa Claus—is called into question. At the heart of the case is one little girl whose belief in Santa may depend on the outcome.
