Things To Do in Greenville SC
May marks National Stop the Bleed Month, and Greer-based North American Rescue (NAR) is hosting a series of free STOP THE BLEED® courses throughout the month. The classes are aimed at equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to assist in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.
The in-person, instructor-led trainings are designed for individuals who have little or no medical training but may be called upon to respond to, and deliver, trauma care and bleeding control prior to emergency medical services arrival or in an austere environment. Individuals can sign up for a training at no cost.
Life threatening bleeding can occur from emergency situations in communities every day. From vehicle crashes and incidents involving farming equipment or public transportation, to accidental injuries from natural disasters like tornadoes or inflicted injuries from intentional acts of violence like shootings and bombings, uncontrolled bleeding can result in death within minutes – even before emergency medical services or other emergency responders can arrive. These first minutes following a traumatic injury are crucial in saving a life.
