Friday, January 17-March 6th
Beyond the Norm | David Armstrong

About the Artist: David is a retired attorney, having practiced in Greenville for over 45 years. He was introduced to photography by his late dad, himself a keen eyed, skilled amateur. David was the photo editor of his high school yearbook and as a senior electrical engineering student in college, built a high speed xenon flash, triggered by his camera.
Throughout the years his focus has shifted from the technical to the artistic, believing the arts enrich lives and bring joy, especially in these contentious times. Now thriving in its 5th decade, this Thursday evening event that runs from March through August is estimated to be attended by 50,000+ people who will gather on North Main Street to enjoy live music and beverages. Downtown Alive is a major force in the economy of downtown Greenville. The City of Greenville Special Events Department has been an outstanding partner in organizing and handling all the logistics of the event. Department Head Angie Prosser and her capable and dedicated staff members are to be commended for their time, efforts and commitment to the success of Downtown Alive.
To highlight the visual and performing arts, the city sets up the DTA-Metropolitan Arts Council tent. Each Thursday, these artists and arts groups are able to display and sell their work or tickets to performances during the weekly DTA event.
