Dear Greenville parents, there’s a little place in Travelers Rest that you need to know about. Especially on days when you’re stuck inside because of weather. You know the days I’m talking about. Days when the kiddos are driving you crazy, begging for something to do because they’re “bored.”
Enter TReehouse Cafe & Studio.
Are you familiar with the rocks that are painted and hidden along the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Travelers Rest? Some are splattered with unique artistic designs, while others are painted with local business logos. You might also find one, or fifty, covered with nature paintings or pictures of animals. If you find a rock, you can choose to keep it, or tuck it away for someone else to find. For $1 your child (or let’s be serious, YOU) can create a masterpiece and leave your mark in the great outdoors.
TReehouse has every size/shape rock you can imagine to paint. This is where our boys spent the majority of their time. When they were done, we had to “sneak” out of the cafe and find a place to hide their rocks. It felt a little bit like Easter, minus all the candy. And the bunny… oh well.
JP and Preston enjoyed painting small white canvases. I think they’re $2. Don’t quote me, but they were VERY inexpensive. Even the medium and large canvases are affordable. I’m no artist, but these were so much fun (and a little addictive.)
Painting might not be your thing. Maybe your precious little one is only two and painting would be more trouble than it’s worth. I can’t stand doing laundry, either. Have no fear: a big bowl of crayons is provided and coloring is FREE.
First-timers are encouraged to write their names on the wall. What kid (or adult) doesn’t want to write on a wall?!
While everything we’ve talked about so far is important, let’s move on to the part of TReehouse that will really keep parents happy (and sane.) Coffee, sandwiches and sweets. The menu was a big hit with all of us! My favorite part was being able to enjoy my sandwich and tea while the boys did their thing at the art table. The cafe is small enough, even if you tuck yourself in one of the quiet corners, you will have no trouble keeping your eye on them.
The kids ask EVERY TIME we drive through Travelers Rest if we can “please stop and paint more rocks!” TReehouse Cafe and Studio is not a forgettable experience and the perfect spot for hours of indoor entertainment.
