Only three months remain until I run from Travelers Rest to Main Street during the Mountains to Main Street Half Marathon on May 18th. Running is a passion of mine, and I’m journaling about my journey through training on greenville360.com!
My weekly training plan consists of three runs, three cross training days, & one rest day. My first run of the week is an easy run, my second is an interval run, and my last is a long run. Cross training workouts include kickboxing, strength training, pilates, and other cardio routines. Join me today as I hit the Swamp Rabbit Trail for my interval run!
Today’s interval run consists of 6 rounds of 2 minute runs at an 80% maximum heart rate, which is then followed by a 1 minute walk or jog. Before the intervals, I warm up with a light jog or fast walk for 10 minutes. After the 6 rounds of intervals, I cool down for 10 minutes and stretch. As my training continues, my interval runs will increase in intensity & time – these are the longest intervals that I’ve completed thus far.

I am wearing Kentwool women’s tour profile socks on my run today. Because they are made with Kentwool’s signature merino wool, the socks are incredibly lightweight & soft, which make my feet feel cushioned as I hit the pavement. Merino wool also makes the socks breathable & absorbant, which is ideal as the weather begins to warm up.
I feel strong after today’s run, and my body is responding well to the increase in training. When I began my training plan, I could feel the impact running had on my lower legs. As time has progressed, I have grown stronger, and I don’t feel that impact as much anymore. Also, I have been focusing on my nutrition during my half marathon training plan. Fueling my body with the correct nutrients & remaining hydrated has been a fundamental factor in my training. I can see the results of healthy eating during each workout.
Stay tuned for more journal entries as my training progresses and I race towards the finish line. Until then, keep running Greenville!
